I am a grad student in the Midwest currently finishing my thesis. I enjoy taking breaks from research to visit various roadside attractions and regional festivals (not of the Renaissance variety, but more of the food-on-a-stick variety). Even though I live in the Midwest I don't enjoy tractor pulls or hog calling contests, preferring instead Democrat fundraisers, French Film and culture, local dive bars, and seeing live bands.
